I was first told the story of Sir Nicholas Winton a few years ago by Lawrence Reed of the Foundation for Economic Education. Winton was a stock broker in England during the years leading up to World War 2. During a two week trip to Prague at the behest of a friend, he embarked on an extraordinary mission to save Jewish children in Czechoslovakia from near-certain death at the hands of the Nazis. His remarkable story is told in this recent segment on 60 Minutes. You will marvel at the courage and ingenuity of a man who did everything he could to make a difference.
