Privacy Policy

The Libertarian Christian Institute (LCI) has established this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect through our websites, social media, and your other interactions with us, as well as how that information may be used used. This policy covers all LCI media, including (but not limited to) libertarianchristians.com, christianlibertarianreview.com, and any and all social media accounts or third party platform accounts owned or operated by LCI.
In this policy, “LCI” refers to LCI in its official organizational capacity and as represented by its management, board members, contractors, and/or volunteers.

As a libertarian organization bound by Christian ethics, LCI is committed to serving our visitors and protecting their privacy. With that said, it must also be understood that we live in a complex and highly-connected world, and it is not always possible to provide perfect privacy or to meet everyone’s individual expectations at all times. This Privacy Policy attempts to shed light on your information is handled when you interact with LCI.

As an overarching rule, LCI does not sell or rent donor or visitor information. We will also not share said information with any third parties without your prior consent, except as compelled by law or as otherwise stipulated in this Privacy Policy. LCI is located within the United States, and therefore will transfer, process, and store your information in the United States, which may or may not provide as much protection as your home country.

Information Gathered by LCI’s Sites

General Logging: LCI, either directly or through our third party vendors, collects normal browsing information when you visit our sites, which may include (but is not limited to): I.P. address, browser information, cookie information, date and time of visit, referring URLs, and which of our pages you visit. Any information collected by our third party vendors is subject to their respective privacy policies.

Voluntarily Submitted Information:In addition, LCI collects and retains information you voluntarily submit to us. If you choose to interact with LCI on social media, contact us via web form or direct e-mail, write to us via postal mail, sign up for our e-mail lists, donate, and/or attend LCI events, LCI may collect any information you submit, including (but not limited to) name, e-mail, phone number, address, and message content. Information you voluntarily submit to us may be retained, in whole or in part, in LCI’s own files/backups or on any third party services utilized by LCI (such as web hosts, e-mail hosts, cloud storage accounts, survey or contest facilitators, web conferencing hosts, project management tools, payment processors, or mailing list databases), and are subject to the respective privacy policies of those third parties. We may also ask for additional personal information when you provide us with feedback or comments, or otherwise communicate with us. It is up to you whether to submit any such information to us, as well as what you submit.

E-mail List: If you choose to contact LCI, you grant consent for LCI to add you to its mailing lists. You may unsubscribe from the mailing lists at any time.

LCI’s Use of Information

In general, LCI uses the information provided by you to further its mission, including marketing our content to you. We may also use your information for:

Donor Information:We use donor information for our legitimate interest in processing and managing your contribution, including fundraising reminders and renewals.

Other activities:We may run surveys, contests, or similar activities. Such information will be used for the purposes for which it was collected.

Third-Party Service Providers to LCI

Certain code on our sites, as well as other services we utilize, are operated by third-parties, such as analytics services, plug-in providers, payment processors, and external hosts or platforms.

Where reasonably possible, we take steps to limit the ability of third parties to retain data about our users. These service providers may place session cookies on your computer, and may also log standard technical information such as I.P. address, browser information, date and time of access, referring URLs, and other similar information. Our service providers may also store and organize your personal information collected through this site on our behalf which you choose to provide to us. LCI’s third party providers primarily process information in the United States, but may process data in other jurisdictions.

LCI may change the specific third-party providers from time to time, and may transfer stored information to any new providers.

Third-Party Services and APIs

LCI’s sites also provide links to or interact with a wide variety of third-party websites. LCI is not responsible for, and does not have any control over, the privacy practices or the content of such third parties.
We encourage users to read the privacy policies of any website visited via links from or interactions with LCI.

Disclosure of Your Information

While LCI endeavors to protect your information, we may disclose personally identifiable information about you to third parties in limited circumstances, including: (1) with your consent; or (2) when we have a good faith belief it is required by law, such as pursuant to a subpoena or other judicial or administrative order.

Updating or Removing Your Information

LCI will make a good faith effort to honor such requests, but does not represent or warrant that it will be able to do so.

Data Storage and Retention

LCI may retain information collected under this Privacy Policy indefinitely to suit our organizational needs. At our discretion, we may also choose to delete any such information at any time, whether for routine maintenance, lack of need to retain the information, or other such purposes. Any deleted information may continue to persist in the possession of third parties outside our control and/or in backup media.

Security

LCI employs industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control, including appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk. LCI has implemented the default use of HTTPS encryption on all of our websites. Administrator access to our organizational accounts and third party services is limited to those who necessarily require such access. Financial transactions are processed by reputable third party payment providers using industry standard security; LCI does not see, possess, or retain your specific financial details such as full credit card, debit card, or bank account numbers, and is not responsible for how third party payment processors handle such information.

Although we make a good faith effort to store information collected by LCI in a secure operating environment, we cannot guarantee complete security. LCI is not responsible for any breach of information which you provide to us, either by interacting with us directly or by visiting our websites.

LCI supports users who choose to access our websites and services anonymously. Users are encouraged to implement their own data security measures, such as those recommended by the Electronic Frontier Foundation at https://ssd.eff.org/

Changes to Our Policies

LCI’s Privacy Policy may change from time to time. However, any revised privacy policy will be consistent with LCI’s mission. If the Privacy Policy is changed, updates will be posted here.
