The Christians for Liberty Conference is a premiere event exploring the intersections of libertarian thinking and Christian living. All events will take place at St. Edwards University (Mabee Ballroom, Ragsdale Center) in south Austin, just 15 minutes from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Ragsdale Center is at the corner of Andre and Moody Drive on the main campus, and the Mabee Ballroom is on the 2nd floor. Click here for a campus map. Most lot parking is available in the summer, and we recommend parking in the lot just south of the Ragsdale Center at the corner of Andre and Moody. More parking, including a covered lot, is located a short distance down Moody Drive to the east. To see a parking map, click here.

Our Friday night program (August 7, 7pm) will be presented by documentary filmmaker Colin Gunn. He is an award-winning writer/director/producer, accomplished animator and podcaster, and he will be discussing the politics of health care and his new documentary Wait Till It’s Free.

Our main program is on August 8th, and activities begin at 9:00 am (doors open at 8:30 am). Our keynote speakers are Lawrence Reed, President of the Foundation for Economic Education and author of Was Jesus a Socialist?, and Dr. Laurence Vance, author of The War on Drugs is a War on Freedom and regular columnist for,, and the Future of Freedom Foundation. Look below for the full list of speakers – it’s going to be an amazing day! We will also be building in plenty of time for discussion and fellowship over great food. Last year, attendees enjoyed the speakers but wanted more time to meet new people and just be Christians together. We listened and have made that a priority in this year’s schedule.

Lunch and dinner on August 8th are included in your registration fee. Following the end of formal activities at St. Edwards University, we invite everyone to a social hour sponsored by Students For Liberty at Opal Divine’s Penn Field, on South Congress less than half a mile south of St. Edwards (plenty of parking is available).

Event Description

The Christian libertarian movement has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 6 years, and has been at the forefront of that growth. Even so, all of us Christian libertarians still encounter difficulties organizing and networking to help spread liberty ideas with our fellow Christians. Social networks, such as the Christian libertarian Facebook group, have had some success in bringing Christian libertarians together online, but we need to keep pressing forward.

Last year, we hosted the first-ever Christians for Liberty Conference in Austin, Texas. Over 115 dedicated Christians came together for an intense weekend full of great speakers, fellowship with fellow libertarian Christians, and experiences with some of the best organizations in Texas and throughout the United States. It was the beginning of a new era for those of us who love Christ and liberty, and starting from there we have endeavored to use that momentum to further this cause by starting small group meet-ups across the United States and much more.

We said it last year, but we’ll say it again: you will not find any event like this anywhere else. Getting just a few Christian libertarians together in the same place can be difficult – putting hundreds in the same room is something you cannot miss! I hope that you are as excited as I am about this conference and the future of the Christian libertarian movement. I look forward to seeing you in Austin this August!
