Norman,
Heard you on Axxiom for liberty. I am in complete agreement with you. No doctrine should be built upon a statement by Christ intended to sidestep a trap. It is interesting to note that in Jewish theology, the famous statement made twice in the book of Judges, "Everyone did what was right in their own eyes," was not a statement of anarchy but civil order. The professional clergy, to buttress their presumed authority, has willfully mislead the Church. Yet when you consider that Yahweh told Samuel that they were rejecting Him when Israel clamored for a king, and that the atrocities under the kings caused Yahweh to spew them out of the land, this did not happen under the time of Judges. I believe that Judges is a better picture of the Kingdom, then Chronicles and Kings.
